Pros

Low expectation. A lot of people just coast and do minimum work. Easy to be a top performer here. Excellent work life balance.

Cons

Poor tooling. Management think letting software engineers use 10+ years old desktops is acceptable. No career growth. Outdated tech stack. Executives and VPs are not taking software development seriously. Keep losing software contracts so not a stable job for software engineers. Fails to retain smart people.

Pros

Great people! I’ve worked at several locations and everyone is always so nice and helpful. Also lots of opportunity to move around and try new things.

Cons

More of an industry problem, but lots of red tape limiting technology stacks. Lots of legacy products are in use and it’s almost impossible to get new tech into classified environments. This limits how much engineers are able to explains their toolset and prevents project optimization.
