What's really going on?

Pros

Upper level managment does not mess too much with day to day operations so you can do what needs to be done to get the job done

Cons

The keep firing people and not hiring. Slow brain drain while the rest are over worked. It's clear what is happening. Upper level managment buying more and more companies to inflate stock value. They sell the max stock the can sell every quarter. They then glut the inside of everything they purchase. When the house collapses they are rich and we are unemployed.

Corporate Strategy...what's that?

Pros

- some of the best technology; love to show it off to friends - telecommuting is a great option; wish there was less travel restrictions for company meetings - decent benefits package (wellness benefits would be nice)

Cons

- if there is an integration strategy for acquired firms, I haven't seen it - pay raises, what pay raises? - role definitions unclear; it's still like 10 companies working independently.

Pros

- world class core technology and intellectual capital - good benefits - opportunity to work on very exciting products/services (if you are on a "blessed" project)

Cons

- stagnant compensation - process oriented culture, little if any accountability - large number of managers with the company for a long time - peter principle in full force - poor integration of acquisitions - no clear strategy
