Pros

Pay on time. Provide foot pedal. Fairly flexible if you need to change your schedule.

Cons

Poor employer-employee relations. Micromanaging.

Pros

Working at home is great if you are making decent money, because you save on gas, wardrobe, lunch, etc.

Cons

Employees are treated as very disposable. They prefer newbies who don't know what a transcriptionist used to be able to make. Pay was cut IN HALF from transcription to editing. Impossible expectations. Management does not care about people. Training done by videos and questions never answered. I guess that's expected when the CEO is the 16th richest CEO in the country. That trickle-down thing is going the wrong way.

Pros

Most of the people are great to work with from mid-management down. I have been able to make some incredible friends and have learned a lot from my coworkers as well.

Cons

Every year the pay, health benefits, PTO and holiday pay (has anyone else heard of time and a QUARTER for holiday pay) goes further in the toilet. Wipe out entire divisions in a single fell swoop. Getting much too large. Too many accounts moving to India!! Our Indian counterparts have no training in medical transcription and they are now performing audits that show the Indian counterparts in a favorable light when nothing could be further from the truth. The reports that are coming out of India are so full of mistakes that it scares me to think that my medical records may be done by Nuance offshore workers and vendors. No matter how much you try to teach them the correct way to do things and point out mistakes, it does not change.
