Pros

Work from home office setting.

Cons

I have aways moved up in my career, but with the insinuation of profit corporations into our healthcare, I found myself shipped off to these people. I agree with all the cons already expressed. When you lose 75% of your salary and benefits to a corporation that has devilishly tweaked ways NOT to pay you beyond minimum wage, it does not make one loyal to that corp. I feel devalued and dishonored. This isshamefully fhe resurgence of the sweatshop. Something I never thought I would see. Those manager crack the whip, and why not, our sweat pays them a livable salary. Corporations learned a lot from their time on 3rd world countries and have created the USA into one.

Pros

Working from home. That is the ONLY pro.

Cons

I agree with all the negative comments posted. The pay is ridiculously low. I hired on at 5 cents/line, and shortly thereafter, our pay was reduced to 0.375 cents/line. (That’s 27 lines to make $1. Think how hard you have to work to make a decent hourly rate.) There is oftentimes not enough work, and then you are expected to get back on when the docs decide to start dictating, so basically you’re “on call” 24/7. The company avoids paying OT because you have to clock in and out all day when you run out of work (prior to this, they made us lie on our time sheets so the company wouldn’t have to pay OT). There hasn’t been one week without technical difficulties on their end that result in being cheated out of pay. You will never get a raise. If you want more money, put in more hours and work faster. Then you have the typical problems that come with working on production for a service where other employees cherry pick the good reports/doctors and leave the difficult time-consuming ones. I would never recommend working for this dishonest company!

Pros

Some of the pros about this place included a great benefits package, very intelligent co-workers, and a chance to work with some new and cutting edge technologies. Free Soda?

Cons

Where to begin..well first off this place treats workers as expendable. Be prepared to work long hours and to sacrifice your weekends and personal time all in the name of padding Paul Ricci's pockets. Nuance is a perfect example of a company that pays their employees just enough not to quit. As a result most employees do just enough work not to get fired. Worker morale is also very low because of the constant threat of lay offs. Expect to be managed by a group of technically incompetent project managers who are constantly asking: "Is it done yet? Is it fixed yet?". Also if you work here DO NOT expect a raise..ever. Nuance simply just does not give them. Try to restrain yourself when the HR department explains that the "bad economy" has the company short on cash for raises only to open your e-mail the next day to read that Nuance acquired three new companies for $300 million in cash. Rejoice when you get your 2% bonus after working countless weekends and nights for months on end. Another major topic worth mentioning is that Nuance is INCREDIBLY political much more than most companies. Nuance does not reward contributers but rather rewards individuals who know how to cozy up to management and play political games. Sadly I would not recommend working here. Just about everyone one of my old co-workers at Nuance was either actively seeking other opportunities to leave or waiting for the economy to improve to find a better job because Nuance is literally a career dead end.
