Pros

Was awesome working with the people before Investors took over and made it into a money-siphoning business where they milk the money from public company to feed their own so-called 'Super employees'.

Cons

Bad management after the hostile take over. Completely bad decisions, Customers have been lost and people have been laid off mercilessly across the globe

Thank you for your service to Optiva. We are sorry to hear about your experience. ESW no longer has an interest in the company. Pros

Theses Pros I am sharing based on my Experience when I had joined this company two and half year back. This is MY PERSONAL OPINION which does not imply that you would have the same. 1. If you work on Real Time Products of Redknee which are now almost matured or don't fit market standards of tier 1 clients there is only good learning in terms of the way designs have been implemented. You get learn how these Real Time products function and overall business flow and architectures of these products. It would give nice understanding of Voice Calls, Rating and Charging. 2. Free food, Phone allowance, Broadband allowance. 3. Flexible hours to come to office no swipe in swipe out. 4. Very few people in Redknee have been associated with it and are helpful and talented and justify their roles. I can hardly think of Pros here as all I have seen since last 1.5 year is Discomfort, unhappiness, unnecessary pressure.

Cons

There are plenty of downsides i have observed since the acquisition of NSN BSS by redknee i.e. since last 1.5 years. 1. Poorest Management of Products. 2. Everyone comes and adds his more mess into it and leaves products in the worse state then they were. 3. Most Pathetic arrogant Project Management officers they need to be replaced. 4. Terrible and pathetic Appraisals throughout Redknee Pune. 5. HR has no clue what is going on in Company and has no Say at all. They are just the underdogs. 6. There is no learning left in Redknee at all. All you have to do if you join, is to add your mess to existing one. 7. Few good products lack the scalability so they cant be upgraded or reconstructed for tier 1 clients and thus only maintenance is left. I believe redknee does not have better tier 1 clients. 8. Their whole purpose is to sustain in the market than grow to bigger extent. The list could go on and on but I think this should suffice anyone's purpose if they are at all thinking to join this company. A word of Advice to them who are planning to Join - The grass always seems greener on the other side. And all that glitters is not Gold (read between the lines). So just because they are offering you good salary don't get lured by the offer. If you have a better one then join there. These views would be of almost every alternative employee of Redknee Pune. I am just being their representative four putting up these thoughts upfront.

The CTO sold the company

Pros

It WAS a fantastic company during Redknee times, Even though there was a lot of work pressure, it was fun - because everyone participated like a team and there was less politics and back-stabbing.

Cons

Now it is a private team of cohorts and boot-lickers of the CTO. Initially he seemed to be a good chap with good intentions of reviving the company fortunes after ESW, but over the last 4 years, it has become clear - he is a selfish person with no vision and acumen for architecture. 1. He brought in his own bunch of jokers with 0 experience of the Telecom BSS world. They screwed RnD and burnt up the 60 million USD they were given. All new joiners take 2 months to ramp up, thereby increasing overheads by 3 times of what was required earlier. 2. The company has become a more of a SI than a product company, with nepotism (Founders of DT, the company supplying Order management and Catalog are friends of the CTO) and suspected kickbacks (Repeated deals to a company called EnS, at costs higher than their own people who are forced to train EnS persons) reeking in all deals. 3. The managers from Belfast are absolutely biased, especially towards the people from the Indian subcontinent. Every effort has been made to blame them, while the European and Belfast teams enjoy all the benefits and Work-life balance. 4. Off-late, the icing on the cake - after the announcement of the JV with Qvantel, the CTO has offered to Qvantel all the recent deals Optiva got, This is to secure his own position and to hide his failures in the ongoing product development and deliveries. This guy has single-handedly, with the active help of his cohorts, managed to mislead the CEO and the board. The message from the CTO is simple - lick my boots, or else you will be booted out.
