Pros

- Everybody is very friendly and super intelligent. - Very little politics or worrying about who gets credit for what. Team-centered atmosphere focused on collaboration. - Learning and personal growth is a important facet of company culture. - The company is working on problems to make the world more efficient. - The company has gone through a significant transformation with a focus on employees. Focus has shifted from time spent in desks to what results the employees are achieving. - The company focuses on continuous improvement. It identifies problems it has and works on fixing them.

Cons

Although full of brilliant problem solvers, the company has less experience at general business. They are actively working on addressing this need.

Thanks for your insightful feedback. A company is as good as its people and a company is made great only by great team members. We always strive to hire the best talent we can get and incentivize them so that they achieve their best potential. Due to the academic foundations of the company, the company has tech-heavy and lean on business and sales. We are in the process of changing that. We are developing the business and sales aspects of Optym and have started recruitment. We are also bringing seasoned C-suite executives to Optym so that they bring decades of experience in guiding us in our future growth.

Everything is fake!

Pros

Benefits are reasonable. Including Friday lunch and snacks.

Cons

Everything is fake Cons: Everything you see about this company is fake. Nice photos show happy employees but the reality is at least 50% of the people in those pictures have left the company. The CEO doesn't care. He says it's OK people are leaving after a couple of years. They are nothing to him. Nice building and furniture but the reality is the company loses money because of incompetent management. They promise to treat you fairly but the reality is only those who worship the CEO and please his ego is given bonuses and promotions. They keep bringing employees from overseas for all positions. Is it even legal? Immigration should look into this practice. The US has qualified people for any of these positions. Stay away!

Thanks for your feedback. We are very sorry that you feel that way. We care a lot for our employees and value them a lot. We know that a great company is made by great employees only. We are going through a transition process of turning a services-centric company to a product-centric company and we are investing heavily into building products. We are now seeking investment to fund product development and expect it to happen soon. We have a fair and transparent process for raises, bonuses, and promotions and all managers are involved in that process. On the immigration front, we honor INS regulations and bring persons on the right type of visa. Let us not forget that US economic success is based on attracting talented immigrants all around the world and allowing them to contribute, grow and prosper. We are doing what is best for Optym and the US economy. We wish you the very best in your future career.

Poor management

Pros

Good benefits and perks.

Cons

Inept CEO and project management that has run the business in the ground. Nepotism and favoritism at its best. Other people taking credit for your job. Unless you keep your nose brown, you stand no chance. Your achievements are not appreciated. You have to belong to the clique to make it there. Good people leaving in flocks every month. If you are looking for a stable place, go look somewhere else. You don't need to work for poor management like this. There are much better companies around that would appreciate your talent.

Dear former Optymer, Thank you for your comments and feedback. Based on your statements regarding recognition and appreciation for good work, your concerns align most closely to the area of performance management. We received feedback internally that our previous performance management process needed an overhaul. We listened. Optym has introduced a new performance management process and system to manage it. With our new system, all work objectives and associated key results are fully transparent and reportable. As part of our new process, employees and managers touch base within the system throughout the month and meet on a monthly basis. Our new process helps employees readily see how they are performing as compared to communicated expectations. Performance pitfalls such as favoritism and recency bias are mitigated by these changes as well. We will continue optimizing our new system and process to ensure all employees know where they stand regarding performance and are recognized accordingly. Best regards, Optym HR
