Good place to work, but involvement of CEO (Professor) ruins it all
Pros
1. Good problem statements to solve. 2. Decent work life balance. 3. Good people (mostly). 4. Good salary. 5. Very calm place to work. Most of the time you will be at peace.
Cons
1. Non existent ESOPS policy. Bonus points that Optym offers is useless. Do not get fooled by it. 2. Repetitive work. Also, a lot of rework due to poor planning. 3. Some of the senior people have been here for more than 10 years. Some of them joined as intern. They have no idea what's going on outside the Optym world and thus, you may observe some of them to stick to same old decade old practices. 4. Some teams take processes too seriously. Less outcome, more processes - check in , check out, live dashboard and what not. 5. Whenever CEO gets involved, things get delayed. The focus is on documentation rather than actual outcome. He doesn't understand iterative improvement methodology and will ask you to document everything to detail. This may sound fine in the beginning but the documentation can go on for months and months as he'll find mistakes at every step. A lot of senior folk present one thing and do something else to get things done. 6. This is a family run business and CEO/Owner appeasement is the priority. If you are someone who doesn't really care about the impact and are okay to work on whatever is presented to you, go ahead. If it matters what and whom you work with, avoid joining.
