Pros

There's no doubt that OwnBackup has a decent product set although there's been a lot of confusion about overall direction recently. Job perks are great - unlimited PTO and catered lunches encourage you to go the office but take time out when you need to, which most people do responsibly. Hard work and success are recognised.

Cons

The mass redundancies at the end of last year have made people fearful that more is to come. Several employees have left recently and many are demoralised by what is seen as misguided leadership, particularly in the EMEA region.

We offer our employees perks that make managing their work-life balance easier. We provide free shuttles to and from NYC, free lunch and coffee at the office, a fitness center, dry cleaning services, and on-site salon services like massages, manicures, pedicures, blowouts, and haircuts. Our employees enjoy happy hours, sit/stand desks, and even meetings in our outdoor conference room. They also enjoy unlimited PTO, summer hours, professional development opportunities, and internal career mobility. Like many in the Tech Industry last year, we had to make hard decisions to ensure our continued success in changing external circumstances. We have a positive outlook moving forward and are positioned for continued growth and success.

Pros

- Coworkers, customers, vendors alike are good people - top talent. - Many within saw promotions, lateral shifts, and opportunities to engage with new tech, attend conferences, and lead projects. - Business knew how to change and adapt to new information and leaders would call themselves out. - Solid product Was decent place to work at various points, though depends a lot on the department/manager/location. Don’t expect too much and you won’t be disappointed.

Cons

- Lack of empathy, trust and transparency from various leadership members often made people feel replaceable, under appreciated, and overworked. - Visible favoritism of individuals, departments (sales), and location heighten in-office politicking. - Unclear growth paths, learning opportunities for those outside of sales - The constant rallying of how amazing the company is only to realize they mismanaged spending that led to a large layoff. - The way the layoffs were handled.

We have to agree with you on our people- we hire the absolute best talent in the market to ensure our company is always driving forward. We empower our employees to be their best by offering resources to further develop their skills and competencies, like tools, technology, off-site opportunities, and stretch projects. Career growth paths and learning opportunities are an essential part of the employee experience. We are currently focused on offering learning and development opportunities to all employees who want to grow their careers. One of our core values as a company is ‘we build trust through transparency.’ We communicate openly, honestly, and often to ensure our employees are in the loop. Unfortunately, with the current market landscape, we made difficult decisions. These decisions were not made lightly.

Work/ life balance is unique to everyone, and is something that needs to be managed on an ongoing basis. If you’re having difficulties, please reach out to your manager or Human Resources Business Partner to discuss. As with other Tech companies, we had to make a strategic decision to ensure our continued success in a shifting market. A great deal of thought went into this decision, and it was not made lightly. In terms of compensation, every role is benchmarked to the market, and pay equity is top of mind to ensure every employee is compensated fairly. If you have any other questions, please reach out to your Human Resources Business Partner.
