Cons
You have to be on call at night time some times for multiple weaks in a row. In maintenance, I would have to work for many years before reaching a higher position, and even then, the higher position isn't too appealing. They don't explicitly tell you what to do; they expect you to figure it out on your own, and they give you strange looks if you 'do nothing.
