Pros

Free Pizza Sometimes! The health care is actually very good.

Cons

OMG!!! I sincerely do not have enough time in a day to share all of the negatives. There are some nice people here and many immature folks. It’s like an adult day care center without diapers! Actually, I think people do poop their pants because the lavatory situation is criminal! So let’s get this horror show rolling. To work here you had better be a “teacher’s pet” or you will never make any decent money. I am in payroll and am 37 years old and have never seen as corrupt a system as at Paychex. I see reps come and go out of pure frustration due to the ridiculously low base salary, the monthly lack of sales and therefore low commission, or just the interaction with management and/or your coworkers. John Gibson, the CEO, has driven the stock into the ground and ONLY makes almost $9 million a year to suck. He would love to have robots in the office because he could work those until their bolts pop out and their circuits blow. I see really good people get upset and quit because no one listens to their legitimate concerns. No one cares! OK, hopefully this will encourage you to find employment elsewhere where you may have a real chance of success.

Pros

The people who work here, for the most part, are fun

Cons

• Only 10–20% of representatives hit quota in a given month, which shows that quotas are set far above realistic expectations. • Senior management at the hub is often rude, unsupportive, and dismissive toward employees, creating a sense of disconnect between leadership and the sales team. • The director fosters a culture of fear by publicly shaming employees and contributing to a toxic work environment. This sentiment is widely shared among the 80+ representatives. • In my 15 years in sales, I have never experienced such a negative workplace culture. I am relieved to have moved on, and there are far better sales opportunities elsewhere. • The “unlimited PTO” policy exists in name only—employees are discouraged from taking time off. • Success is heavily dependent on territory assignments. Reps with favorable territories receive steady inbound leads, while those without are left to cold call almost exclusively, often closing only 0 or 1–2 deals a month despite significant effort.

Pros

Remote work is nice and my coworkers are amazing.

Cons

The CEO is horrible, he’s known for being data obsessed and does not care about employees. So our HR Services division keeps changing their KPIs to meet his wants even though HR is hard to quantify. The KPIs are insane, upper management keeps changing them, like they’re dangling the carrot farther and farther. Pay is low for HRBPs too. The other departments are horrible, especially payroll. Clients complain about how bad payroll is (which is embarrassing for a company that is a payroll company!). The sales reps have questionable ethics. Gibson is also bending to the current admin and severely scaling back our DEI. The company is also getting so cheap under Gibson. They won’t hire CA based employees even though that’s where HR consulting is needed the most.
