Pros

Workmates are sociable people and friendships can be made quickly. Mangers can be friendly and approachable and can be understanding of certain circumstances of why you might be unavailable for work.

Cons

High pressure environment which can leave you stressed and drained after a shift. Customers can dispute over small discrepancies which can affect the pace of the queue at the tills. It is always busy. No matter what time. Even before trading hours. It is always busy.

Pros

Lots of overtime available. Can be very sociable. Pay better than other retailers in the area. Always busy so time can go by fast. Job is easy so good for students who aren't full of skills. Easy recruitment, interviews very basic and no previous experience required. plenty of training. You do get the odd lovely customers who cheer you up.

Cons

Some managers have been quite rude - I've been told to do as I'm told because my manager is "10 pay grades above me" Customers can be especially rude. Very busy shop that is either too hot or too cold. Hours not flexible, part time staff HAVE to work bank holidays which means Boxing Day, new years etc. Retail ops have to ask permission from management/supervisors to do the most basic things - void item on till, take a hat off a mannequin for a customer etc. Only sociable because everyone is bored stiff of doing the same job over and over everyday and need to communicate in order to stay sane.

Pros

Very welcoming interviewew and as it was just a sales assistant job the interview questions were fairly straightforward. The interview lasted around 30 minutes and I was asked to come in for an induction.

Cons

Although a short interview for the interviewee is a good thing it could have been longer for me to understand the my role more in depth
