Pros

PwC is a good starting point if you have no idea what you want to do (aka straight out of college) , however , job experience varies greatly by team. The travel hotel points are nice.

Cons

1. You will probably be shipped to the middle of nowhere America and barely see your friends / family. Your health will deteriorate significantly. I started having hair loss as a female at 23 ( all hair thankfully grew back with my new job) and you will gain significant weight from the constant obligatory team dinners while you travel. There is zero privacy and you are forced to constantly hang out with coworkers. Good luck if someone annoys you. Also you will lose complete touch with your friends. And forget about glamorous travel places most places are not “fun” to be at. 2. The only smart people in this firm are associates and partners (in consulting) everyone in between spends their time filling out random project management timelines and pretending to do something important. 3. As a first year associate you have zero choice in what team you are placed. You may have a degree in computer science and want to work with tech firms but be stuck in bumble America working with some random insurance firm. Plus they try to convince you as a intern that mobility \ switching groups is possible but it is actually near impossible the first 3/5 years unless you’re super lucky. 4. Maybe I was unlucky with my team but it always seemed like no one cared about my actual career goals and you would just get stuck doing whatever is available. The HR system is also almost non existent. I would call with an HR problem and they would tell me that they don’t deal with such problems. 5. The review system is flawed and is solely based on how popular you are with your peers / coworkers. No one cares or pays attention to actual merit or performance.

Pros

-some nice/friendly people on your level (if you're lucky) -looks good on your CV

Cons

-long hours -NO work-life balance (or just simply no life, if you like) -insufficient coaching for new-joiners -they expect you to know company-specific things (i.e. things that you couldn't possibly learn anywhere else) without teaching them or mentioning them even once. -inconsistent expectations. Your experience largely depends on who you work with. What's fine with one senior associate/manager is often not accepted by another. -Mean-spirited, condescending, impatient senior associates who are unwilling to help or explain anything even though it's part of their job (not all of them are like this, but unfortunately quite a few of them are). -Unfair, unreasonable expectations. -Entire months spent in rural areas in the middle of nowhere, which basically means you have no life at all. You couldn't even keep a dog, let alone have a family or build a relationship. -Terrible atmosphere altogether.

Pros

Exposure to big companies and resume builder

Cons

This was a horrible job. I would never recommend to anyone especially if you are not coming straight from undergrad. The work you are given is basically editing and updating 400 pages reports. Everything is disorganized, everyone is stressed and most of the associate work is admin.
