Pros

Good progression. Worked in PwC Singapore and they accept Diploma holders. However we work additional 2 years to climb to the same pay and "name" as a fresh degree Grad. Supportive of part-time Degrees, however work load is still massive.

Cons

Crazy working hours. The SME department which I worked in provided little to no freedom with allocating of Annual Leave. We had a rule where 2 thirds of leave had to be taken between June to December, and 1 third in April to June. However bookings were given to us a year in advance and we usually were fully booked, making our leaves near impossible to clear at our own leisure.

Pros

The young workforce makes up a high part of the company. They are great to work with, eager, smart. A lot of good talent is hired right out of business schools.

Cons

The majority of the older workforce is horrible to work with. They delay innovation, are untrustworthy, and cause high turnover. A lot of unpaid overtime on the assurance side and abuse of interns. Overall it is very bureaucratic, wrong people in managerial roles and lack of unaccountability on projects. 80% of the partners I had worked with are average, entitled, don’t inspire respect, and don’t care about employees just utilization, you are a number to them.

Pros

-You will work with some intelligent people -Decent Pay -Some interesting project if you are lucky -Good Training -Great offices -Flexibility in working hours

Cons

From the moment you step in you realise that there is a culture of fear, where people are afraid to speak up. Most people are very quick to jump to conclusions and you need to be constantly cautious of who you speak and what you say. Even the most innocent comment can get you into trouble. There is a prevalent old boys club culture where either you play by the partners' rules or you are singled out. First you are not put into projects, then you get bad performance rating and then gradually you are pushed out of the firm. The whole operating model of the company is based in turnover. They hire talented people for a couple of years, take advantage of their skills and knowledge and then they let them go, make them redundant or simply fire them.
