Worst management and poor HR policies

Pros

Flexible timings. Shift allowance is excellent.

Cons

Managers in PwC love sycophants. Even if you are not contributing to the project but are good in canvassing, you will be bestowed with laurels. Sincere workers hardly get any recognition and visibility. Managers while leading the projects behave as slaves of onsite engagement team. HR policies don't exist and are tweaked to favor already favored resources. Management does not have any vision and just follow the orders of Partners. Undue favoritism, lobbying is order of day. Opportunities are hard to get by and only few selected people get them time and again. Hikes, Bonuses, Promotions are given without following any standards. Good rating does not necessarily mean a good hike. Awards are given without any transparency and they are a bone of contention between employees making the work environment hostile.

Pros

I worked in PwC SDC, EGL, Bangalore(salesforce practice) as a senior technical lead and recently came out of the company to find better opportunities. You can negotiate on package, they pay for certification and sometime you also get external training(very rearly)

Cons

If you join the company never think of leaving because that could be a nightmare of you. In my case company didn't pay my expenses(Foreign assignment) and my salaries. They operate this company as a small departmental store where management tries to manipulate policies as per their convenience. Horrible management. A lot of politics. I must say this place is nothing like a PwC brand name(as it is known for in the USA). This company & culture is more like Bearing Point company culture which was acquired by PwC & later named as PwC SDC. Many employees got fooled thinking it is like a PwC USA & joined only to suffer Especially for leads & above(ie with 5+ years experienced) - joining here is a dead end. Because there is hardly any growth…

Pros

-Great place to start a career, I met some really sharp people at PwC - Great benefits including fitness benefit - Great place to get foundational knowledge, the rotational "foundation for the the future" is a good way to explore various areas of the consulting practice as well as various industries (if you are lucky with staffing) - very flexible: once you prove yourself you can work from home/ come in whenever you want - opens a lot of doors but only if you are a top performer (annual rating of 2 or 1) - Great Training and investment in employees - Fun place to work, the associates you start with will become life long friends.

Cons

- Most Associates are required to do some time in risk assurance services group, which is audit work. This is unfortunate as this is not advertised in the recruitment process. - Some associates were treated very poorly, staff with low utilisation or billables were sent to a "confirmation centre" for a couple months where they were calling banks/ PwC clients to confirm payments. - Smart people who are less inclined to play the office politics will not do well at PwC. The firm favors people who are very good at play the game. This is why all the smart people leave and we are left with average associates. - Job security is a concern, in April 2014 people laid off 50 employees in the consulting practice. - Partners that come from the IBM practice are ones to avoid, they come from a bad culture and often spread their ways in the competency they manage. - Poor staffing process, random and turnover for resource manager is high (we get a new RM every 3 months)
