Pros

I worked there for 17 years. Although this only applies in my situation I will get a pension and that's for putting the time in, something unheard of these days and no longer offered as a benefit. Also started my 401k there and did well (more for my own choices)

Cons

I had convinced myself with all the negatives with this company maybe this was a boot camp situation and things would get better. As I realized where my future was headed down a dead end street I decided anything would be an improvement. My goal was always to do work but more times than not get caught up in elementary school foolishness. The section and department managers have their immediate circle of friends and you are either in the club or not considered a team player.

Pros

I've worked at RMS for over 15 years. The job is very stable. They do have layoffs once in a while, but never anything major. You have to be very incompetent or very unlucky to get laid off from RMS. The benefit package is among the best in Tucson.

Cons

Effort for talent retention is very low. They will wine and dine you at your interview, and give you a great offer to come to Tucson. However, once you're here, they will not try anything to keep you. Promotions are hard to come by, but they'll give the higher position to new hires with no problem. Be sure to negotiate for a higher E-level than you deserve when you get your offer. Otherwise, you'll be stuck at a lowly E-level forever, and have watch new hires with no skills and no experience come in at a higher E-level than you.

Pros

This is a large national company working there has decent benefits. At Raytheon there are lots of interesting projects in the area of aerospace can be quite interesting and you access to some cutting edge technology.

Cons

Some project has life cycles in the decades, which means it is possible for some to be pigeon holed as an important resource for a project that is essential on life support. To avoid this you have to market yourself internally
