      Challenges in People Operations at SADA: A Call for Leadership Review

      Pros

      SADA is home to exceptional talent, offering commendable values and a global, high-growth environment. The flexibility of remote work is a significant plus. The People Operations team, particularly in recruiting, is filled with dedicated individuals who foster a collaborative spirit.

      Cons

      Despite these positives, my experience was overshadowed by a pervasive culture in the People Operations department that seemed incongruent with SADA's stated values. There was a noticeable trend of extreme micromanagement and a work environment that could be described as toxic. This management style created unnecessary stress and impacted team morale and mental health. Further, I observed practices within the department that raised ethical concerns. While not illegal, these practices, such as bending rules or manipulating processes to pass audits, were questionable and seemed to compromise the company's integrity. Many colleagues shared similar observations and concerns, which ultimately influenced my decision to seek opportunities elsewhere.

      A Growing and Innovative Place

      Pros

      I have been at SADA for quite some time so one can always argue a review being bias. SADA hires people from companies like Google, Apple, Microsoft, and more. It's great to work with such talented engineers. Watching SADA grow from 30 people to 100's has been amazing, challenging, and rewarding. We get to work on big data projects, machine learning, network architecture, and more. We also have products that are changing the way people work. Our engineering team is focused on constantly growing technical cadences (such as continuous integration/continuous delivery.) Overall, the culture is relatively flat and offers a lot of latitude/flexibility. SADA is growing quickly (to say the least) so it is a fast-paced company but they do a great job accommodating this growth. I have never felt such a great growth in technology and culture working elsewhere.

      Cons

      Because SADA is growing so quickly, it is important that the company's policies/cultures stay up to date. I know the operations team is constantly striving for this and delivering. It would be great if we began delivering a weekly knowledge center for new employees.

      Co-workers. Co-workers. CFO. Depending on position, ability to work across Google, Microsoft, Facebook products.

      Cons

      No 401k for a year. Micro management in full effect. Frat boy culture - from the top down. A few in upper management roles who are totally inappropriate without consequence - any solid worker will have zero respect for this/them...and will leave/have left. Lack of process. Lack of sufficient training/on boarding.
