Pros

APC has great people to work with for good compensation. Not a lot of politics at the lower levels. The people you work with have families and so it's a relaxed environment. The people are in it to do a good job, go home to their families.

Cons

Company is not loyal to employees. They treat you well as long as they need you, however they will lay you off if convenient for them despite stellar job performance. Recently with the merger with Schneider Electric, this has become a more common occurrence. I hope that things settle out in the future.

Pros

Excellent Benefits, 401k, Medical, Dental and Vision! The people you meet working on the CST.

Cons

On the CST: Tech's are held back from promoting to other positions in the company until your managers "let" you go. Come in one minute late and you'll hear from workforce management, stay late and nobody will even say thank you. Answering phone calls all day, and being harassed to take a call at all times.

Pros

Like any place of employment, the people you work with really make a difference. At Schneider Electric in the U.S. people are generally freindly and cooperative. The electrical industry runs at a slower pace because safety is such a concern. So there is not a lot of pressure to meet strict deadlines. Most of the engineering is focused on maintaining existing products or cost reducing existing products.

Cons

Schneider Electric is owned and operated by the French. It is difficult dealing with and understanding them. The French like to really study a problem before implementing any solution. Most of the operations in the U.S. were once independent companies, e.g., Square D, APC. Sometimes people still act as though these companies exist and are independent.
