After nearly a decade of loyal and dedicated service that never received a below average annual review, I was laid off along with many others and received 2 months severance. So much for hard work, loyalty and dedication. This company just got rid of me and many other people like we were broken pieces of furniture not worth repairing. Home Depot breached our trust. Well, layoffs in corporate world is an accepted reality, but Home Depot took it to new low: for years, during almost all corporate meetings high management was preaching Home Depot core vales, "taking care of our people" being one of them. People working here knew that they may not get the highest salaries in the industry, but as an offset, they would get a job security. For years, it was true until now and I foolishly trusted the idea that Home Depot does what it says. A big mistake. It is all ruined now for me and many others because Home Depot "took care of our people" in a vey peculiar way. I don't know what made them do it but the feeling of being stabbed in the back and betrayed is nagging. In my opinion, their management should stop talking about Home Depot values - for these values no longer exist, as cold, calculated and profit driven approach just obscured them. Now, if they continue talking about their values it would be the same as if a bunch of pagans would be preaching Christianity. For all future Home Depot job applicants: you heard my opinion, you make your conclusions if you want to be a part of this company or not and how much of job security you can expect.
