Pros

* Interesting peers who keep the bar high(atleast some are still here) * Also some of them are real geeks(read dotfile pros, terminal editor enthusiasts, mechanical keyboard fans etc.) and their company, discussion and passion is truly not easy to find. * Good software engineering focus. With some very experienced experts, there's always the discussion on better software engineering practices and staying updated with current trends * Potentially interesting hats to take on besides development. One could be a trainer, takeup tech assessments and so on * Decent pay and hikes

Cons

Possibly now(2021) is not a great time to be in Thoughtworks due to potential changes around its ownership which has brought about a lot of changes around * Decreased work life balance * Shift in power dynamic favoring managers more * Age old tenured Thoughtworker privilege. * At this time, to grow in TW you need to either be a loudmouth / tenured TWer / extreme hard worker * Unbalanced incentives for people who stay in a single project for a longer duration * No correction applied w.r.t losing principles / culture * Used to be a place where people were generally very kind / empathetic, now it's mostly unnecessarily cut-throat / egocentric / political (and there's no checks in place) * Newly introduced performance review system is really backward(losing flexibility in the name of structure)

You've covered a lot of aspects that make Thoughtworks a great place for technologists. In fact we're really proud of our recently established learning and development programs, that help everyone hone their skills and grow in their areas of interest. We have exciting times ahead of us as we grow and we will always strive hard to retain our culture and values - we hold them very dearly. I'm sorry you didn't have a more positive experience working here, but we appreciate the honest feedback. Regarding your feedback on advice to management, we may not always get it right, but we’re committed to constantly building capabilities within our teams. We understand that you may want to remain anonymous, however, if you would be open to discussing your feedback in greater detail please do not hesitate to get in touch with me: shirly.evangelin@thoughtworks.com. Pros

Great company to work for, even better then any other FAANG company in India. Best tech in India in comparison to any other company, just that compensation offered in comparision are quite low.

Cons

Compensation offered is low and that is sole main reason for change.

Thanks for your review. We're happy that you enjoy working at Thoughtworks! Compensation is something that we put a lot of thought and effort into to ensure it is competitive within our industry. Salaries can vary wildly depending on role, experience, and market; we review salaries annually to keep pace with market rates. But we will pass on your feedback to our leaders, nonetheless. Wishing you a successful career with us! - Shirly

Pros

Very talented people, most of them were hired before the change in recruitment process. There is still a bit of a focus in social justice, mostly powered by small local communities. There's a fair attempt to keep safe spaces within teams and be inclusive and collaborative.

Cons

The talent selection has changed for the worse. The bar is much lower than before, and while there are still amazing people getting in, that used to be the rule and now they are the rare exceptions. Staffing has lots to improve. Starting with making themselves accountable for the stress they cause by making bad staffing decisions. There is a lot to reflect on how people leaving the company is in part for where they are staffed in, for how long, and the little or none recognition they get. Teams starting new engagements are full of people with only weeks in the company, therefore, people with more tenure have to carry the onboarding and level up capabilities. Some teams are led entirely by new hires who then don't have the right tools to make engagements work and as pressure only increases, they bring someone with more tenure to "save the project" (verbatim). Having been in that terrible position myself, the expectations, pressure and stress are just too high for the inexistent recognition in return. You have to constantly advertise what you do to "make your efforts visible" (verbatim) to the bosses, even though they are the ones assigning you to teams with well known issues. TW hasn't adapted its consultancy model which keeps trying to rely on agile and having one of the agile manifesto writers in times when it's not a differentiator anymore. Social justice was practically taken out of the equation after the acquisition. TW advertisement of being a "premium consultancy" clashes with employees' compensation being a galaxy away from being premium. Compensations are poor or inexistent, not at all comparable to what other companies are offering since the benefits from before the pandemic are not applicable anymore (and salaries have been historically low). Saying that ThoughtWorks offers more than a salary has become old and hypocritical, since the company is not offering other benefits either.
