Pros

Great people, friendly atmosphere, chance to work outside the remit of your own role, great benefits, socials of all different kinds (BBQ, Film Night, Gaming Night). They support Corporate Social Responsibility - supporting causes in the matching employee fundraising etc... Trayport is an interesting company with a real desire to continuously improve, for its client, employees and shareholders.. There's plenty of interesting work and chances to learn about new things. The free breakfast and biscuits are also pretty awesome. As is the location of the office.

Cons

Having come from fast-paced environments, it was a challenge for me to come at things a little slower - but this is no bad thing, really. Employee processes are less sophisticated than at previous organisations, but this is changing and is no big deal.

Pros

Breakfast cereal and coffee is free

Cons

A management team of mainly former NZX staff who are thugs and less intelligent than they believe, a client service team that can only gossip, criticise and try to cause harm and a CEO in his little office most of the day with no clue how to manage people. All this leads to staff constantly leaving and a feeling of disenchantment amongst those there. That's despite the CTO who replace the last one that was fired.

Pros

I met some great drinking buddies. A lot of the people working there were intelligent, driven and creative. I am happy to see many people leave here and work for themselves but there is a reason for that.

Cons

I arrived impressed with the grasp of technology and enthusiasm I had seen in the interview but lost all respect for my boss and most of the management team when I realised this was all a sham to get me in the door. The management culture was intensely autocratic and crudely aggressive. The management team insisted that, despite any technical knowledge, they should be driving the technical direction of the product and all the internal infrastructure. Business cases merely consisted of "because I say so" and any discussion quickly escalated into arguments even if the direction given was contradictory or irrational. My boss would never support any of my decisions and wouldn't even come up with his own plans, he would always turn to management for direction, leaving us rudderless and victims to whims of those far removed from the actual work.
