Pros

Good hours, a lot of old people who love paper

Cons

Highly bureaucratic; face time is valued more than technical skillset or subject matter expertise. Limited career advancement; no raises in between promotions which might happen every 3-7 years. Managers are incompetent and have antiquated mindsets on best practices (i.e. they love physical filing and printing powerpoint presentations)

Pros

Competitive pay. Lots of opportunities for analyst involvement on transactions. Senior credit officers genuinely have a passion for their work.

Cons

Hours can be long and inconsistent based on number and complexity of transactions coming through the pipeline. Decisions often require approval of many parties, slowing down the process.

Pros

Great work life balance in my group. Global bank so there is potential to move if you're willing to pay for it yourself.

Cons

Swiss run company so there is definitely a feeling of isolation for U.S. Based businesses. Also policy of no annual raises which can get frustrating for years on end at the same salary. Despite market hitting highs for years on end, all management talks about is cost cutting.
