Pros

The firm can pay well if you are considered an "essential" employee. Very international team, and you certainly get the sense of working for a global firm.

Cons

The heart of the firm is a Swiss Bank. Once you've been there a few years, you'll discover that all employees are not equal; Swiss are treated well, everyone else in the US is good for as long as you might be useful. The Risk Control area is undergoing stringent cost cutting at risk of creating problems for tomorrow (they are definitely cutting well below in Risk vs. US firms), and good senior folks are being shown the door, while Swiss employees replacing US personnel at all levels on expat contracts. Be very careful about being a senior hire here. HR has fired numerous employees for "cause", usually on trumped up charges in order to avoid paying out deferred compensation and severance. This place is only as good as your last direct deposit.

Pros

Good annual leave, flexible dollars quite on par with market standards, nice & comfortable office space, good location in Singapore. Some good and friendly people across the firm.

Cons

No work life balance for my role, others with children automatically entitled to 830-530 work hours. Line manager is pro family but unfortunately not pro without family which is sad as we have our lives too, parents, siblings, partner etc. Line manager is fickle minded and always take on more projects which always allocates to the one without children in the department. Somehow makes me feel penalized. Colleagues who are higher rank have higher pay and work life balance which is totally unfair, Directors and earn $10k above but yet just flick all the time consuming, admin and logistics work to the lower rank employees. Totally no respect for such colleagues. High turnover of the contract position as attitude by higher rank colleagues are incorrect, they always expect their work to be done first or prioritized first than others, it's a shared and not a dedicated resource. Line manager always emphasize on team work but the joke is the other colleagues don't even bother attending internal staff engagements such as lunch and learn sessions, CSR activities, Dinner & Dance to name a few. Must learn to reward accordingly, although hours spent is not everything but it definitely mean something if the employee clocks in more than 12 hours of work for 1-2 weeks consecutively.
