Pros

Pockets of Great people who want to drive change forward They all hire people to be that Cog in the wheel, these people had only a high school education and the firm invested nothing in to these people

Cons

While not indicative of the firm as a whole, within 10 months I had 5 different managers and the name of my team changed 3 times. I overheard the management talking about getting rid of the XXX team and it took about an hour until I realized that he was referring to my team but using the old name for our team. When you are working in the US you are working in a branch, the decisions flow from overseas which is surprising because we are smarter in the US.

Pros

Most of the people that work there, are good quality people, both co-workers and support staff. I have never felt much pressure to sell a particular product - ideas are offered up, but it is left up to each Financial Advisor, the products they are most comfortable working with. Pretty open to different business models, although some areas don't receive a lot of support.

Cons

UBS is a decent firm within the financial services industry - at issue is the constant bungling and lack of foresight and integrity of the industry as a whole. It's behind in some areas like technology, but new management has been making strides at upgrading. The industry has a long way to go to revamp the business, so that more money is being spent on fundamentals like due diligence and less on the wildly overcompensated upper echelon i.e. BSD traders and their bosses that have repeatedly brought the industry to the brink.

Pros

There are a lot of opportunities within the company because it of its size. I was an intern and did not get the opportunity to stay in the company. I did not get any training or experience whatsoever. All i did is just some copying and scanning. But looks great on my resume now. The future employers will never know what exactly i was doing there.

Cons

No training, no real life expereince. The investment advisers just expect you to know everything without explaining what exactly they want. Interns are treated there as if they are the lowest class in this world.
