Pros

I am a Summer Associate in the Equity Research department of the Investment Bank. This means that I am a first year MBA student who receives a pro-rated salary and no benefits. UBS has an excellent brand and a great training program which should more than prepare me to receive a full time offer upon graduation.

Cons

UBS has far less name recognition than the uber-bulge bracket banks like Goldman, Morgan Stanley, and others. Most of my "non finance" friends have never heard of the bank.

Pros

UBS's focus on work / life balance made it an excellent place to work. My manager and team was very flexible in allowing time off and working from home when necessary. The internship and training program were great. It is a good place to start your career.

Cons

Since the subprime debacle, UBS has been floundering in lack of direction. The direction that they take in the next couple of months will be a big deciding factor in how well they fair. The work is not that challenging and can get tedious. The people that you work with range in skill and quality.

Pros

UBS encourages a good work / life balance. There is no excessive bureaucracy like at some of the American banks and people just get on with their jobs. Everyone I worked with was very friendly and highly skilled. In the technology areas, their interview process is pretty tough, but if you get through it you can be sure you will be working with people who know what they are doing. Their offices are in the city instead of Canary Wharf, which means an easier commute for some.

Cons

They aren't the best payers in the industry. Their offices could do with a bit of a face lift.
