Pros

UBS is a large firm with good infrastructure and training to help you get started. If you're fresh into finance, UBS is one of the best places to get started. It's also one of the most women friendly banks that I've seen.

Cons

Large firm means you can get lost amongst the crowd. If you want to stand out you really need to be doing alot to get noticed. Conservative style of management/legal and compliance means alot of business opportunities may be let go, although the current mortgage back securities crisis doesn't seem to confirm this...

Pros

If you are just starting out your career, there is a lot of opportunity and training provided. There is often special training programs for new hires recently out of college and there is a concerted effort made to support the learning and growth needs of these new hires.

Cons

If you have been there a while your salary will never catch up with the salaries offered people in comparable positions that are just starting with the company. You are often at the mercy of reorganizations and political plays among senior management. Not a place you can expect to retire from, especially given the significant layoffs in the last two years. Not the solid company it once was when it was PaineWebber.

Pros

Global Diversity. Opportunities to move horizontally and veritically.

Cons

Beaucracy and red tape. This company spends more time talking than doing: more meetings than decision. This company wastes more time restructuring and reorganizing than any other company I've been at. Salaries are well below market. Powerpoint skills are valued more than core technical aptitude. There are way too many levels of management - top heavy.
