Pros

-good name to have on your resume. -chill office environment (in Anchorage). -once you're comfortable in your role, it is possible to flex your daily work schedule by a couple hours, if your Supervisor's have left the office or are not present because they don't show up to the same office they ask their staff to show up to. -reimbursable education expenses. -if you're decent at your job, there is time in the day for continuing education. -15 days paid vacation, 8 federal holidays, plus a few sick days. -4-5% 401k match. -cheap-ish health insurance costs $1000-2000/yr, not bad. -holiday party and team dinners. -once or twice a month free lunches and food for team and client meetings. -work load is not too high. It's just a 40-hour work week. Financial Advisors and Managers seem to work less than 30 hours.

Cons

-Raises are slow. Promotions are slow. If you get a good offer to join UBS, take it for a couple years, while planning your next move out & up. They do not promote from within, unless you are family or well connected. -Corporate HR seems to be slow, distant. They are so slow, to the effect that it causes additional issues that could have been avoided, had they acted sooner; like when they were initially notified of upcoming issues many months before deadlines occur. -Nepotism is alive and well. It is depressing to watch extended family of Managers and Financial Advisors being hired for open roles. Existing admin staff are not encouraged or explained to what it would take for them to ascend into higher roles. -Anchorage salaries lag behind other parts of USA, even though Alaska has a high cost of living. Even though UBS reports positive earnings growth year after year. -the income disparity between Financial Advisors (FA's) and Support / Admin staff is large. FA's make between 4x and 10x+ more than the staff who enable their profits. -the office decor is stuck in the 80's; it is uglier than sin. An embarrassment to work in, compared to similar companies. Unfortunately, the budget for office reno comes out of the Branch Manager's salary; so unlikely the office will be reno'd anytime soon. -employees are able to pursue continuing education, but you are not given time off for studies. It is team-dependent.
