Pros

Security (for now). Though there seems to be movement to outsource IS functions. If you are performer chances are you will be trusted and left alone.

Cons

Bureacracy which is found in larger organizations. Too much rah rah and emphasis on stock ownership which should be a personal choice. Promotions not always fair. I was passed over for promotion even though I had more experience and education than the person promoted. That person was good friends with the promoting manager. So they like to talk the line that they are fair, in actuality they are no different from other firms. IS has too many people and I can see more downsizing.. they do not call it layoffs. But it has happened in IS. Its called elimination of a functional area and people have to find jobs elsewhere or take a package which is never that great.

Pros

The company has a very strong history with a good culture that is instilled upon being hired. The company pays well for new employees or people who are using this as their first job.

Cons

At times you feel that you are just a number that can be replaced at anytime. The company will not work with employees to make home life balance easier.

Pros

The only good reason I could think of is part-time is offered at a good salary. Another good reason is that many shifts are offered, even overnight work which is beneficial to some people.

Cons

Employees are not respected and are treated poorly. In the office I worked at it was all about who you were close to and befriended. Promotions were not based on experience/knowledge or seniority. Employee morale was very low and the employee turnover rate was very high.
