An Air Force career is challenging, very rewarding, and personally satisfying.

Pros

You will serve with some incredible people. As a pilot, flying doesn't get any better. Particularly for officers, the compensation is very good. And, last but not least, the retirement benefits are unmatched.

Cons

Deployments away from family, personal danger during wartime (and some peacetime) operations, and government beaurocracy are some of the cons to being in the military in general.

Pros

Opportunities widely vary but there is something for everyone. You can sit back and work either in an office or as a technician or you can get out and experience a world of adventure.

Cons

It can be a very controlled environment and promotions are based largely on time in service. There are some remote locations that leave a lot to be desired.

Possibility of death on the job (but anyone who signs-up in the military is WELL aware of this from the minute they contemplate serving), deployments away from family.
