Pros

Best health care, best education benefits, best chance for travel in the world. You can't go wrong with supporting America!

Cons

You basically are owned by the people above you, and sometimes that can make life a little difficult. Also, while the military says they put family first, there are times that family needs take a back seat to the mission (which you may or may not understand). Also, if you are enlisted you will likely come across officers who look down upon the enlisted force, seeing them as lessers. Whether you have more experience, education, or time in service than them - doesn't really matter.

Pros

Tricare is free government health care and several of the pay benefits are tax-free.

Cons

Terrible leadership. Core values are Integrity goes up the chain of command, self before subordinates, and cover your a__ in all we do. Deployments to the middle east are terribly mismanaged and many jobs could be done from practically any government workstation at any military base worldwide and do not require one to be spending an entire year away from family and support.

Friends and travel. Seeing things from a different perspective and being able to network.

Cons

Everything else about it. Monotony. The pay. Too much of your valuable time is wasted on things that don't relate to your primary job.
