The benefits are amazing and make up for the relatively low pay. Housing, food and health insurance are all covered; therefore, almost all of your income is expendable.

Cons

People with the same rank, that do less demanding work get paid the same as you. Many equivalent jobs in the private sector are much more lucrative.

Pros

Great environment to learn on different fighter aircraft. Work with leadership to ensure the mission is meet. Get to see the overall capabilities of all parties involved from line workers to support maintenance back shops. Whole team concept.

Cons

Sometimes hectic flying schedule verses low manning to support the flying schedule . Long hours and other stresses that can affect the outcome or overall mission. Weather is also a big factor. Not for the average person who gets a 30 minutes lunch. Sometimes miss meals and work over the standard 8 hours up to 12 and even 14 to ensure mission is successful.
