Pros

The UN has a really good reputation and provides a very good compensation package. In many areas you can really contribute a lot to change people's life around the globe.

Cons

Lots of red tape seems that prevents you from doing your job. There are never enough resources to do a good job of anything. And of course lot's of politics.

Pros

The best reasons are that i learned about how an international NGO gets it work done and how to communicate better over long distances. Another good reason is that I met great people and learned a lot about the work the UN does all around.

Cons

The opportunities for professional growth were very limited, and if there were, it was under contract, which excluded key benefits.
