Pros

The mission and vision is inspiring.

Cons

Upwork is so focused on process, lengthy memos, documentation, and bureaucracy that they are unable to achieve the high Performance and agile Culture needed to be successful. Leadership is obsessed with building talent density yet focuses solely on the handful of employees identified as "top hipo talent". The hybrid model limits the ability to attract and retain talent and there is an ongoing revolving door of attrition. A lot of talk but not much follow through action.
