      Be Prepared to work long hours

      Pros

      1. Campus is nice. 2. Technology is very good. 3. Company is still the market leader. Most of the server growth will be in virtual machines.

      Cons

      1. The company has had very high growth, but has not invested in the back-end infrastructure. You spend all your time just trying to manually crunch data. As a result, you spend long hours doing manual work. 2. If you get along with your boss, you will do fine. If you don't -- start looking for a new job. There is no place to go in the company other than out. 3. The work is unevenly spread out. Certain teams are just buried, and other teams have lots of free time to play -- ping pong etc.

      Pros

      VMware has a history of having a great product. The technology is complex and works well.

      Cons

      Everyone of my managers, from first line, to CEO (with one exception) has changed over the last year. The new management team is too focused IMO on schedule at the expense of quality. Another consequence is that people are being pushed really hard these days. A co-worker recently called VMware a "sweat shop". I couldn't disagree.
