As many perks as uncooperative workers

Pros

Great benefits, exciting technologies to work with. Being a VMware subsidiary should eventually pay off.

Cons

You will see mistakes all the time, company rarely learns from them. No follow up on career advancement touted. Very uneven distribution of work load. Some work 6-7h days and others 70h weeks. Quality of products and services never ceases to suffer from approximations and mistakes, a contagious "yes we do everything" mindset and mindless footprint expansion (illusion of extra $). Severely uncooperative individuals and poor communication/coordination undermine overall capacity to execute, as confirmed in analyst reports. Current culture makes everyone look and feel awful with constant war rooms to meet overdue and broken solutions, which are a natural result of dedicating no more attention to any system than 30min meetings.

Going backwards fast

Pros

Enthusiastic field teams that are willing to help out Large ecosystem of partner solutions that fill many of the gaps in VMware's own products

Cons

Arrogance of product management. Absolute lack of customer focus. Political infighting among managers damaging the career prospects of their direct reports Career progression is not based on capabilities. Taking credit for the work of others is encouraged and is the only way to progress your career. EMC influence is most definitely a negative influence and is getting worse. Forget the prospect of any decent career opportunities if you reside anywhere other than the US or aren't willing to relocate to the US.
