Pros

Veritas as long been known for being one of the premiere leaders in Data Protection and Information Management. It has some of the best engineers in the world, brilliant minds who solve extremely complex, difficult problems every single day.

Cons

Unfortunately, as with most companies that ultimately end up failing, history records time and again how these companies failed at the hands of a small number of executives who made irreparably poor choices, choices driven largely by greed, arrogance, and selfishness. Such is the case with Veritas today. Veritas has failed to innovate. It has failed to prove that it can meet the needs of new markets while simultaneously maintaining, or even growing, existing markets. Rather than investing in new resources for future R&D development, Veritas robbed resources from existing cash cow product lines thinking there would be little to no impact. They were wrong. Now, both are falling far behind the competition and it’s too late to recover.

Pros

Compensation and benefits although I hear that they are not as good for new hires. I really cannot think of anything else. 25 cents Diet Coke in the break room?

Cons

This used to be a great place to work. Since the separation from Symantec things started going south really fast. The management is changing every few months. Top brass is only concerned about the upcoming IPO. The legacy products are dying and the new products are failing to gain traction. To make the company attractive for IPO the company is closing sites, moving products to India, laying off experienced developers, and hiring fresh college grads in their place. Communication between San Francisco and other sites Roseville, Dublin, Pune is really lacking and the new projects are managed by new hires who are way over their heads.
