Pros

The job is really fantastic, for a student the pay is really good, plus the benefits are astounding (holiday pay, sick pay, bonus, etc...). I am really motivated at work so I try to get as much out of it as I can, working at Waitrose is perfect for me in the was that it offers masses of different opportunities for me to take to enrich my work and to build up my set of skills. If you are someone who finds that the hours you're given are too much and you need them cut back, just ask a manager, the team at Waitrose are all lovely and really approachable. However if you're on the otherwise of the spectrum (like I was), then there are masses of opportunities to pick up overtime and to learn more at work about different positions and qualities. I have - since joining - become a much better person I feel, as I have built my confidence hugely and become much more independent. This is most likely down to the fact that as Waitrose aims to have impeccable customer service, the customers as a whole all seem to be really lovely and return the kindness and smiles that we offer them, so I find that one of the best aspects of the job. In this job there are many opportunities to earn qualifications and to learn many things, so if you end up finding that Waitrose isn't for you, then you can always use the skills and qualifications learned at a new position with a different company. And finally, as the John Lewis & Waitrose Partnership is, well, a partnership, you really do get back what you put into the job. If you challenge yourself there and work hard, then you shall get it back in ways such as promotion and other benefits.

Cons

The only problems I can maybe think of would be some of the technology at Waitrose being a little outdated at times! Otherwise there is nothing I could say.

Pros

The pay is good and the hours are reasonable. Obviously the bonus is very good and gives me a big incentive to do my job well.

Cons

Sometimes I am left alone to run the line which can be very stressful and also I am often in a rush to complete the tasks given by the end of the night due to lack of staff
