Pros

Good benefits. Work around your schedule. Many opportunities to grow and develop. If you can find things to do, its fun and easy work.

Cons

Salaries are less than completive. Work is sometimes repetitive. and boring. Work satisfaction very dependent on coworkers and immediate management.

Pros

The company has cut back on overtime so you're only allowed to work 40 hours a week. However, this is also a con. Managers are understanding about days off and vacations. The work is not that hard and there is not much actual responsibility. You get experience in the pharmacy and they pay for your Pharmacy Tech license which is something to add to your resume.

Cons

There are a lot of cons to working as an assistant manager at Walgreens. You are paid on an hourly rate, and many assistants lost a lot of pay when the company cut overtime. So while you only work 40 hours a week you lose a lot of pay because of it. Also, since you only work 40 hours a week you have to try and squeeze in a lot of work without going into over time. The work itself is not glamorous. You are essentially a stocker who has keys. You're expected to handle all customer service actions beyond the actually ringing out of customers, and sometimes this even falls on you. Your day is spent running around doing returns, voids, picking up cash, handling complaints, stocking shelves, scanning in vendors, covering your employees breaks, unloading trucks, merchandising the store, cleaning bathrooms, unclogging toliets, filling scripts, ringing out customers, and the list goes on. Promotions are also impossible for assistants anymore. When I was hired out of college last year the district manager said that in 1-2 years I would be and EXA and in 3-4 I would a Store Manager, this is a lie. The company is no longer expanding and is focusing on organic growth there is no room to move up. I left after my one year review when my store manager told me and another assistant should have went to EXA classes but theres no room and in the future they will only send 1 person a year at most.
