Pros

Pay, PTO, possibly scheduling if you’re lucky enough

Cons

Walmart pharmacies has changed so much within the past few years. They pride themselves on “being on the cutting edge” of healthcare and they want to implement all these new initiatives but there is NO STAFFING help for the managers to accomplish these tasks. Many days, you are just treading water, trying to stay afloat in serving your patients in front of you but that’s not enough. The company wants so much more than just dispensing. From opioid stewardship, to MTM, to immunizations, to scheduling and evaluations, to hiring and training new people (that’s a big one), to diversity training, to providing “moments of care” to the customers, it doesn’t end. These are all good and nice but if you’re at a busy store, there is NO TIME to do this with the quality and care that you want. And middle management doesn’t really care or acknowledge your efforts. And if you’re short staffed, good luck!!! They don’t give a crap about your situation. Just ask the multiple pharmacy managers who are short staffed. And compliance trumps sales or profits or even customer care. If you’re out of compliance, watch out! They will terminate you without hesitation! Regardless if you’ve been there 1 year or 20 years.

Pros

Work-life balance, flexible work environment, lots of opportunities to advance if you're a non-person of color.

Cons

Little to no people of color in leadership roles and no real strategy to improve D&I. If you're a POC (person of color), be prepared to be overlooked for promotions/advancement opportunities in favor of non-POC teammates.
