Pros

Wal-Mart is a company that gives the opportunity for advancement, learn new skills, and be promoted from within. Wal-Mart provides all necessary training tools to accomplish these goals.

Cons

The management at Wal-Mart on the front end is a complete joke! The CSM's make any cashier that needs help feel afraid to ask or suffer being embarrassed in front of customers. There is not enough training given to become a cashier. The training offered via CBL's (Computer based learning) are outdated, and they cram you so much that you forget what you've learned by the time you get on the register. This area is a high volume store with customers who do not posses proper coping skills. Cashiers are literally abused by customers. I am not talking about a "displeased" customer, I mean just mean customers all together. Cashiers work to the bone in high volume stores. They are pressured to check out 1000 items a minute. They also have to bag. Once again I speak of a high volume store. These cashiers are hustling and paid same as cashiers in other stores who have 1/4 the volume. Employees are suppose to be praised and given recognition for hard work or when customers give good word about them. This rarely happens. Wal-Mart has a worse "sick policy" of any company I know. I witnessed people coming to work sick, in fear of losing their jobs. Getting everyone else sick and the customers. I am talking flu, stomach viruses, etc...

Pros

Walmart has great potential for growth in a career. Walmart provides great benifits, a 401K, stock you can purchase with a match up to a certain percentage. All around a great company to work for.

Cons

Walmart has a very strick call in policy that could end up you loosing your job over even if being late or missing work is excussed by Doctor visits or even car accidents that was not your fault. The one ting I would change is the hours missed policy.
