Pros

Due to the country's struggling economy it seems that it will maintain its consistency and be there for the customer and its associates. The company has great intentions with the decisions it makes for hourly associates.

Cons

Management is abused in the way that they do not receive alot of the same benefits that hourly associates do. Also it seems that promotions are based of personal feelings as opposed to abilities.

Pros

Honestly, a few years ago I would have a list of reasons, today I can not think of any. Advancement opportunities have just about disappeared and with assistant manager positions on the way out, those few opportunities are quickly dwindling.

Cons

At first it was a very family oriented, not so much anymore. Their was a greater emphasis on and more value placed on associate contributions in the past, where as today, the focus is on sales and productivity. Get the job done or else...

Pros

stability, growth, low prices mean they are better positioned in this economy. locations all over the world offer limitless opportunities. fairly good benefits for management. very good cheap medical insurance. employee discount is good. training program is thorough and builds confidence to be an assistant manager.

Cons

really low morale for hourly employees. often you seem disconnected from the hourly employyes when you are a manager because of the structure. incredibly high turnover amongst hourly employees because they are typically paid very low wages and often don't qualify for benefits because the system at walmart doesn't allow them to work enough to get benefits.
