Pros

You get a raise every six months (as long as your manager approves it) and the health insurance is cheap and affordable.

Cons

It is impossible to advance unless you kiss some serious a**. You could work at the company for 10 years as a part time cashier and a promotion would be passed up because a new hire becomes friendly with someone in upper management. It is pretty much impossible to be full time. You will work 25-30 hours with little breaks (on Thanksgiving week you are lucky if you have time to take a bathroom break) and forget about having a life on the weekend. Management will talk about you behind your back and the open door policy is complete bull. The door may be open but within five minutes of you leaving the human resource office the entire store will know your personal business. Everyone is great and there is a nice sense of teamwork when Danny Wegman comes to visit but as soon as he is out the door you are on your own again. It is every man for himself and if you are not into kissing butt then good luck.

Pros

Positive atmosphere without need for a union. Management wants to please people. They're very understanding of family needs.

Cons

It isn't a lot of money. It isn't very satisfying. Hours vary a lot because it's retail. Lots of part timers who don't care too much about the business.

Pros

Benefits, Medical, dental and vision Employee 401 (k) plan matched by employer Time off to care for family members when needed EAP for employees when encountering personal problems

Cons

Favoritism beyond belief, job skills not necessary No advancement for anyone not from Rochester,NY (Corporate HQ), when asked at an open door session how many women were managers from the NJ area, the whole room fell silent, the response, "we don't have those figures with us". No figures, yet the company has been in the state for over 10 years!!! No respect for employees with special skills, seem to want all to fit same pattern with all their employees, yet emphasis (in name only), diversity More concerned with making Fortune's top 100 list and having employees strive for "Superstar" Awards, than to actually get any work out of employees Managers feel entitled to getting their positions, especially if they have been with the company for over 10 plus years. No respect for others who may not want to be managers and only want a job, especially with this economy. Once in a management position, differcult to advance (team leader to manager) without going thru corporate manager training program (designed for the young, not older experienced employees). Personally experienced this and was informed "I could go lateral not vertical".
