Wells Fargo - Credit Management

Pros

Sound leadership, strong customer-centric culture, discipline in credit standards, and a meritocracy.

Cons

The larger a company gets the more it inevitably needs some bureaucracy. Now that Wells Fargo acquired Wachovia, it must be careful to maintain speed to market without the many layers that come with its larger size.

Pros

easy place to work. very cookie cutter responsibilities. good job for someone who doesn't like to be creative at work. potential to do more.

Cons

boring. Same tasks every day. pressure for no reason. pointless. not fulfilling. regular job. checking and savings ... no creativity.

Wells Fargo treats employees as widgets.

Pros

Some excellent and very helpful people work at Wells Fargo at the lower levels. The will go out of their way to help you understand what needs to be done. In fact I got a call from one of them telling me a bit about what had been happening in the background. Told me not to take it too hard as it probably was just some budgetary thing from on high.

Cons

Somewhat squirrelly and arbitrary I was told by a couple of others who were nice enough to talk with me. They tend to treat people as plug in widgets with no concern for employee morale. They tend to hire and fire, especially contractors without thinking about the people. Rarely if ever give a reason for letting someone go. Almost no communication up and down the food chain. You can get moved from one group to another and not know it until later. Team leads are not told much about what the reasons are for the actions of upper management and often are not even told when a team member is being released.
