I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One in Apr 2024
Interview
Fairly straightforward and streamlined process: (1) recruiter screen, (2) 1 hour coding challenge on CodeSignal, and (3) "onsite" interviews (four different one hour interviews, also called "Power Day").
My score on CodeSignal wasn't great, but evidently I did enough on the questions I didn't submit in time to move onto the onsite interviews.
Recruiter was very helpful, responsive and transparent in preparing me for the Power Day interviews. The YouTube videos on Capital One case study questions + behavioral questions were helpful.
The actual Power Day was a bit tough, as it was 8am - 12:30pm PT. I definitely underperformed on the first interview (which happened to be live coding) but did well on the rest. Nothing super challenging, I just did my best to vocalize my thought process and consider multiple options when dealing with ambiguous questions.
The process AFTER passing the onsite interview until I passed the background check actually took longer than the code screen + onsite, but overall still a fairly quick process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1. Recruiter screen just went over experience and confirmed that I met the hard requirements for the role.
2. CodeSignal coding questions included questions similar to ones on LeetCode: 2 easy, 1 medium, 1 hard (you do NOT need to do the questions in order)
3. "Power Day" onsite interviews: 1 live coding session, 1 system design interview, 1 behavior interview and 1 case study
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One in Mar 2024
Interview
The hiring recruiter was very responsive and helpful in preparing me for the interview. The Power Day was a bit stressful, but I would prefer this over a long, drawn-out interview process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1st: The screening process involved going over the resume.
2nd: CodeSignal coding exams included 2 LeetCode easy problems, 1 medium, and 1 hard problem.
3rd: The "Power Day" interview day, running from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, consisted of 1 live coding session, 1 system design interview, 1 case study, and 1 behavioral interview.
There was a phone screen then an online coding test and final super day with 4 different interviews made up of a cultural fit interview, debugging exercise, and technical questions.
