I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One in Mar 2025
Interview
I applied for a Senior Software Engineer position based in San Francisco and successfully passed the initial online coding assessment. Shortly after, the recruiter informed me that the role in SF was no longer available and asked if I would be open to relocating to their Virginia office. I declined, as I was only interested in SF-based opportunities.
Two weeks later, the same recruiter reached out again to say the SF position had reopened and encouraged me to reapply using a link she provided. She also mentioned that since I had already passed the coding assessment, I could move directly to the onsite interview stage. However, the application link she sent was invalid. During a follow-up call, she told me the original application was still active and I didn’t need to reapply.
Oddly, she once again asked if I was willing to relocate to Virginia—despite our earlier conversation where I had already made it clear I wasn’t. This raised concerns about the communication and organization within the hiring process.
Despite these red flags, I proceeded with the onsite interview and felt confident in my performance across all sessions. However, I was later informed that they would not be moving forward with my application. When I requested feedback, the recruiter declined to provide any.
Overall, I found the experience disorganized and lacking transparency. Proceed with caution if you’re considering applying here.

Question 1
Implement storage interface to add, delete, copy files
Design Bank Application to create accounts , and deposit / withdraw / transfer money
Passed the OA. Then there was a power day: 1) Design session (design a system); 2) Java coding session (no LC); 3) Very straightforward behavioral session (STAR/CAR); 4) The last one and the weirdest one – case study interview where you have no idea why you are doing that.
My case study interview was very confusing. Yes, it's nonsense to do this exercise for this role, but I see that it's a regular interview process at Capital One. I recommend not overthinking the exercise – there is no catch, just do what you asked for.
But overall good experience, everyone was nice to me.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One in Dec 2023

The interview process is an initial call witha. recruiter then you do what they call a powder day interview. This is 4 hour long interviews back to back. Mine included a system deisgn interview, a coding interview, a business case interview and a bahavorial interview. If you pass the power day interview then you interview with teams.
