The hiring process at Deel takes an average of 5 days when considering 2 user submitted interviews across all job titles. Candidates applying for Backend Engineer had the quickest hiring process (on average 5 days), whereas Backend Engineer roles had the slowest hiring process (on average 5 days).
I applied online. I interviewed at Deel in Apr 2024
Interview
Maybe the worst recruitment processes experience I ever had!
First I had a call with a recruiter, I believe from India. I got a negative first impression because he was trying to negotiate my salary range, despite that it was previously asked in the job application. It was funny because at some point he mentioned the salary range in dollars which was perfectly aligned with my range in euros and when he did the conversion to euros, he lowered the upper range. I didn’t want to argue about it so I just accepted a slightly lower range to continue the process, without high expectations, tbh.
The recruiter then was talking non-stop for 10’ about the company etc like reading the stuff he wanted to say.
Then, the recruiter sent me a task to do as a second step. In the call he told me that I needed to submit it in 3 days and in the email he mentioned 48h. I let that go too.
The task consisted of a technical challenge, and 11 theoretical questions about react.
The task was fairly easy. A custom react autocomplete component.
The questions were just basic react questions. Not even critical thinking questions, just pure theory, which i find strange, as you can easily google and find the answer (not that it's need to as they are basic). I list some of them for reference.
Finally, I completed the task with a pretty careful design, completing all the primary / bonus requirements and the questions and emailed it to the recruiter.
Shortly after, I received a confirmation of receipt and 3h later I received a generic message: “After thorough consideration, we regret to inform you that we won't be proceeding with your application for this role”, mentioning absolutely nothing about my task or the reason of rejection and concluding: “While the large volume of applications prevents us from offering individualized feedback, we are grateful for the work you put into your assignment .. etc”.
I found that pretty offensive! Personally, I would feel ashamed to answer that to someone who dedicated several hours to complete a task. I’m pretty sure that they didn’t even bother to look at my task. No process evaluates a task in 3h as if developers are sitting there with nothing else to do.
Several days after I received an email to evaluate their process. The message was: “Please click the link to take the survey: N/A “. Yes, even their evaluation link was missing. Lol.
The most surreal process I ever had! I hope I will never hear from/about them again.

What is the difference between Component and PureComponent?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Deel in May 2024
Interview
First screening was great, fast and proceed to do a home task - took you a few hours to do it. Since then there was no reply, either the hiring team is not sincere in hiring or the HR is not doing the follow up. At last close to 4 weeks and follow up emails sent, a template rejection was received.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Deel in May 2024
Interview
R1: 30 mins screening call by Recruiter where they will ask about your tech stack and willingness to work on their tech stack
R2: Home Assignment to write few APIs in express server using Sequalize Database Connector. The ask was to finish the task in 3 hours but overall time given was 48 hours. The feedback given back was not as per what was expected in the assignment for example, it was asked not to write lot of fancy stuffs but if time is there add few test cases but if you write, you have to write them well as it can become cons if you dont cover all the cases. The reviewer might have not looked into to expectations by himself properly i feel. Few cons which were written by reviewer was not even asked on provided in the code as well.
I feel the interview process is fine, but they should properly train or give reviewers a process to follow. Else its all depends on your luck.
