The process starts with an initial HR screening call followed by an interview with the hiring manager.
The hiring manager was late and seemed completely unprepared. He asked almost nothing about my resume or my iOS experience, so I had very little chance to showcase what I actually do.
Much of the interview focused on repetitive situational questions. He kept rewording the same question over and over, even though I had already answered it.
Clearly, he did not have enough material to fill the full hour. After about 30 minutes into the 1-hour interview, he just opened it up for me to ask questions.
The impression I got was that iOS development is clearly an afterthought at this company. That aligns with the low reviews and ratings across their apps.
I have done a lot of interviews, and this is the first time I actually felt frustrated enough to write a review.

Situational questions. Also, asked me what makes a good CI/CD pipeline, and how I'm using AI at work.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lightspeed
Interview
I recently wrapped up an interview process with Lightspeed, and it was a truly positive experience. The entire journey was well-organised, with clear structure and a reasonable number of interview steps.
Great communication. The team was friendly, professional, and transparent. I appreciated receiving timely feedback at every stage, which made the process smooth and stress-free.
The test task was challenging but interesting, giving me space to dive deep, think critically, and show my problem-solving approach.
Overall, it was a great example of what a thoughtful and respectful hiring process looks like.
I applied online. I interviewed at Lightspeed in Nov 2025
Interview
I recently had a screening interview with this company, and honestly, it was quite disappointing. I expected a more professional and engaging experience.
The interview was done over the phone, and the recruiter had a strong accent while speaking on speakerphone, which made it a bit hard to follow at times. I have nothing against accents at all, but in that situation, a video call would have made the conversation clearer and more personal.
She also mentioned that she would be using AI during the interview, which I found a little confusing. I understand that AI is becoming part of the hiring process, but if a recruiter is already conducting the interview, it would make more sense to rely on their own experience and communication skills. Because of the AI involvement, what was supposed to feel like a conversation ended up feeling more like an interrogation. It made me really uncomfortable and hindered my ability to express myself.
I’ve had interviews before that were fully run by AI, and that was fine because it was expected from the start. But in this case, since it was an actual recruiter calling, it would have been better to keep it more natural and human.
Overall, this was one of the most disappointing interviews I’ve had during my job search in 2025.
