I applied online. I interviewed at Snap in Oct 2020
Interview
I went through 5 rounds of interviewing for a position they needed filled as soon as possible. I received great feedback from everyone and when on my finally interview I received a comment asking if I could make my hair straight instead of curly because they really liked me. I declined! This company talks about diversity but the only reason I wasn't offered a position was due to my curly hair? Talk about discrimination. I was told in the end they went with another candidate but for the past two weeks I keep seeing the same position reposted on different websites. I'm a proud black woman with curly hair, glad I dodge a toxic environment.

Question 1
If you could write a book about yourself what would it be called?
Had an initial call with a recruiter which was pleasant. Then had an in-person scheduled at their Venice Beach complex. This was pre-covid.
Met with 3 people. The first was a manager (woman) in a different department, she was all done up in makeup and outfit like hitting a fashion show and looked extremely well off.
He asked me questions and I answered them all fully, however the whole time she was giving me this look of disgust like I was worthy 'look wise' of working along side her at snapchat. That's the best way I can describe it. I do have a bigger than normal nose but she looked at me like I was trashy. I knew from that first part on that she'd be a detracter in my getting the role.
Going forward I had two great interviews with a direct report and direct manager. Both were lively with no feeling of disgust given.
Left for the day, my car battery, unfortunately, ended up going out while trying to leave, had to get towed. Then got an automated email back 3 hours after the interview saying I didn't get it. Have applied a few times since that interview and consistently get turned down without a hr screener.
End result, they seem/seemed very jaded with looks at this company, unless you're a model type and super attractive they likely won't hire you.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Snap (Los Angeles, CA) in Sep 2020
Interview
A recruiter reached out to me to set up an interview to which I accepted. She was late to the call and barely asked me any questions about myself but eagerly passed me to the 2nd round. 2nd round was set up by a 3rd person I had never spoke with so when the call was over I couldn’t even follow up with the person I spoke with. Interviews went well but I followed up twice and never heard back. Tip: if you’re going to reach out to people and take their time, at least respect them enough to provide closure. Says a lot about company culture and I may have dodged a bullet :)
