Pros
Lots of employee perks, like flexible hours, shareholder scheme, 10% staff discount, discounts for many restaurants and activities, discounted health insurance, free food tasting.
Depending on your dept and role, can be opportunity for lots of travel (business class) worldwide. Can always see how the work you’re doing feeds into the bigger company strategy.
Cons
Lots of red tape and process slows everything down.
In a multinational Walmart team it’s expected to work all sorts of late and long hours to have meetings with colleagues across time zones.
Many many layers of management mean it’s difficult to have influence. A senior manager doesn’t really have much authority, they have to consult their director and/or VP for any significant decisions.
The size of the place makes promotions and senior roles very competitive and difficult to come by.
