Pros

Friendly colleagues make for a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere; no customers overnight (non-24hr store) makes replenishment far easier; often left alone to complete tasks without management constantly over your shoulder; night rate pay offers a decent income for a relatively unskilled job.

Cons

Financial constraints and reduction in employees has led to a significant drop in standards over the past couple of years; regular management restructuring and reduction makes progression unappealing; wages often calculated and paid incorrectly since implementation of new computer system approximately 3 years ago; conflicting information/feedback from various managers makes it difficult to know what is expected in your job.

Pros

Colleagues are nice. Where I work management are nice. They support you and want you to develop and actually seem to care about your needs for the most part. The flexible working is ideal for me as a parent as taking "Me" days when my wife is ill to look after my son is a life saver. While I don't personally benefit from a lot of the financial benefits due to not getting out much (Like restaurant discounts, theme parks etc.) there are a lot of benefits that colleagues can take advantage of. The company overall is nice to work for and for the most part I enjoy myself when I go into work.

Cons

In my particular store there are no colleague voice meetings (Which are a legal requirement I believe), the store manager has the music on very loud which interferes with my interaction with customers since it can be hard to hear clearly. But those are just minor niggles to me, the problem at the moment is the management restructuring. There has been virtually zero communication with the colleagues about it and moral is generally low as a result since obviously a lot of the managers are well liked and are being moved, stepping down etc. Lastly, the daily huddles are never communicated with the colleagues and are just written down in our canteen to read and just seem so condescending and come across as it's the colleagues fault when the company are overspent on wages and has nothing to do with the management's, mismanagement.

Pros

the best things about working at ASDA are the company benefits, i.e. 10% discount, discount in other company's i.e. Frankie & bennies, haven etc, the people you work with always make or break a company and the management mean a lot they'll always try there best to help you weather you need time off or more shifts they'll always try.

Cons

customers not all of them but sometimes you really feel like telling them where to go. needs better pay.
