Expecting the most while giving the least

Pros

One of the few companies to offer a pension.

Cons

They want to pay IL rates for CA cost of living. IL employees consider CA "spoiled", "less experienced", and "too PC". Brand new building w/ a lot of crowing about it being "green"; but isn't ADA accessible & no consideration given to different needs of different departments. Extremely hierarchical. Some people are expected to be onsite, despite talk of flexible work or what department heads say. Mask guidelines aren't enforced. Support systems aren't user friendly, the intent seems to be to discourage getting help when something breaks.

Pros

Generous vacation, new company holidays, skinmedica and Botox perks

Cons

Big Pharma had created new culture rich in metrics focus, lack of focus and fear. Pressure from top is creating trackers, micromanagement and questionable practices. Clear and courageous doesn’t exist. It’s old school pharma from the 1990’s. Close on every call- patients aren’t really the North Star when the products cost too much.

Amazing team, delusional upper management

Pros

My colleagues and immediate team are great. We all have the same work ethics and we get things done efficiently. I wouldn't change the people I work with for anything in the world.

Cons

As of September 15th, we were told by HR and upper management that AbbVie will force employees back in the office, despite the recommendations from the government not to rush anything. Furthermore, AbbVie has not taken any stance on mandatory vaccination which I find not only unsafe but extremely unprofessional from a company in the pharma industry. Upper Management has made it clear that a flexible work environment does not include any option to work from home in the future as they want to capitalize on "hallway conversations". But all of this doesn't matter as I will be looking for an employer with a modern stance on what flexibility means.
